Shirley Eaton - Jill Masterson
James Bond: She died of skin suffocation. It's been known to
happen to cabaret dancers. It's alright so long as you leave
a small bare patch at the base of the spine to allow the skin to
breathe.
Shirley Eaton had only a very short appearance as Jill Masterson
in Goldfinger. She works for Auric Goldfinger, peeping
into his opponent's card when he plays and informing him by radio about
his hand, until she is uncovered and seduced by James Bond. She is
killed by Auric's hitman Oddjob for betraying Goldfinger. Oddjob covers
her skin in gold so she suffocates.
Although her appearance was very short, the picture of Jill Masterson
covered in gold is one of the most iconic in the Bond movies and
in cinema history. It also helped to spread the then popular myth
that you could die by skin suffocation when covered totally in paint.
In reality, you wouldn't die of "skin suffocation", that's an urban
legend. |
