The Bond Girls

Since Honey Rider (Ursula Andress) emerged from the sea in that bikini, the "Bond girls" are a classic and vital ingredient of every James Bond film. The Bond movies are films for men - and whatever those men may claim it is that interests them about the movies - the technical gadgets, the action, the special effects, the exotic locations - it's really the promise of seeing young, beautiful, sometimes exotic pretty sexy girls in daring outfits that draws in the crowds.

The exotic tropical locations come in handy to show the girls in revealing dresses, swimsuits or bikinis.

For the actresses playing the Bond girls, there's usually a momentary hype about them and they become household names very quickly. But for some it's more the end of their career rather than a beginning. There's even a "technical" name for this phenomenon floating around - the "curse of the bond girls". One of the most prominent actresses under this curse is Oscar winner Halle Berry - who didn't get a decent role since she played Bond girl Jinx in DIE ANOTHER DAY.
